Stroria di Lazzaretti
Più che un negozio un’istituzione: se a Roma dici “Lazzaretti”, tutti identificano quel nome con la bottega storica della Capitale, quella che aprì i battenti nel 1916 ed è rimasta nei locali storici della centralissima Piazza Fiume, a due passi da Porta Pia e a cinque minuti da Villa Borghese da oltre un secolo. Oltre alle biciclette, a inizio secolo la Cicli Lazzaretti era un’officina che aggiustava macchine da cucire e motociclette. In realtà, nel cuore dei fondatori, i fratelli Remo e Romolo Lazzaretti, c’era soprattutto la bicicletta da corsa, che Romolo pratica a livello agonistico, correndo da professionista al fianco dei Binda e dei Girardengo del ciclismo “eroico” di inizio secolo. Professionista tra il 1922 ed il 1926, si distinse come passista veloce. Romolo riuscì pure a a vincere la tappa che portava da Bologna a Fiume nel Giro d’Italia del 1924 e la la Corsa del XX Settembre conosciuta anche come la Roma- Napoli Roma. Nel 1925 Romolo partecipò anche al Tour de France vinto dall’italiano Bottecchia. Fu invece più per merito di Remo se nei primi decenni del Novecento l’attività venne gradualmente convertita a vero e proprio negozio di biciclette, uno dei primissimi in Italia. Da Lazzaretti potevi trovare le fiammanti bici Bianchi o le Torpado, le ambite Galmozzi o le Legnano, insomma, erano disponibili le migliori biciclette di quella nascente industria ciclistica che proprio in Italia aveva il fulcro.

Romulus also managed to win the stage that led from Bologna to Rijeka in the 1924 Giro d'Italia and the Race of XX September also known as the Roma-Napoli Roma. In 1925 Romulus also took part in the Tour de France won by the Italian Bottecchia. It was instead more thanks to Remo if in the early decades of the twentieth century the business was gradually converted into a real bicycle shop, one of the very first in Italy. At Lazzaretti you could find the flaming Bianchi or Torpado bikes, the sought-after Galmozzi or Legnano bikes, in short, the best bicycles were available from that nascent cycling industry that had its center in Italy
